End Stuttering
When you start to stutter. Stop talking and think of a better word to use. If you are reading, When it starts….Just stop take a deep breath and start over it works everytime.

Stop Stuttering
I used to also have this problem up until high school. (I tend to talk fast now so I need to slow down or I stutter) Here’s how it happened. I moved to another state in high school .I didn’t know anyone. I already stuttered and felt totally horrible when I had a speech class that I had to take which was giving speeches in front of a class. I didn’t have any friends at all and here I was being stuck in this situation. Well, I did some Research on “Jim Jones” (crazy guy, look him up some time) which was a kickass report. Now I had to get up and present it. I got up there, almost puked, and read my cards. I couldn’t believe how it was working. I found that reading from something was so much easier if I just focused on it. It’s about focusing on a word, not if you are stuttering or not. Eventually, while speaking up there withOUT cards, I could picture the words in my head when I got stuck on one. I still do it to this day. I have a hard time with any word starting with WH or TH so I stop, back up and picture reading it. Strange but with practice it became easier. I ended up enjoying that class because I liked telling about creepy topics that others were interested in. You need to relax. If you try too hard NOT to stutter, it won’t work. Good luck, trust me, there’s hope.

Try not to think about it, try to make yourself feel confident. Get enough sleep.
Since you’ve lived with it for so long it’ll be more difficult to “tame” it.. I think you better visit a speech-language pathology.
They talked about this once on Doctors and a woman ate meds (unfortionally I can’t remember which ones) and she felt as if it got better…
No idea if meds actually are any good though but I guess the speech-language pathology knows quite a lot… seeing one would probably be the best and most effective way for you to try learn how to control it… might not feel fun to do but I believe trying to do it all on your own might make it into a vicious circle, and it would probably be extremely hard, I think you’d need someone that supports and helps you…
good luck.
